The SKARN prospect is situated on Blackey Mountain on the east coast of Banks Island, 98.5 kilometres south (167.5°) of Prince Rupert B.C. and 113 kilometres (233°) southwest of Kitimat, B.C.

A gabbro complex of the Coast Plutonic Complex is in fault contact with gneissic diorite to the north, hornblende-biotite quartz diorite to the southwest, and a skarn-metasediment unit to the northeast. The gabbro body is up to 500 metres wide and 1000 metres long and is composed largely of hornblende, plagioclase and pyroxene.

The gabbro carries disseminations and bands of vanadium-rich titanomagnetite up to 60 metres wide and over 300 metres along north trends with steep east dips. A sample of the higher grade material assayed 49 per cent iron, 7.0 per cent titanium and 1.2 per cent vanadium (Assessment Report 12346). Minor anomalies in platinum, palladium and gold are also reported.

In 2019 Western Energy Metals Ltd. conducted an airborne survey over their Blackie property to map the magnetic properties of the survey area to aid in geological mapping as well as detect possible zones of bedrock mineralization and alteration. This was followed up by a single day of prospecting and mapping which produced 21 rock samples, many strongly enriched in Fe-Ti-V. The dominant feature highlighted is a large (1.5km x 0.8km), roughly concentric magnetic high located in the central part of the property. Selective rock samples from this magnetic anomaly include 0.513% V205, 4.01% Ti, and 49.3% Fe from semi-massive magnetite in a silicified hornblende-rich diorite (Assessment Report 38325).
